SAVANNAH - Audrey Cason Marston Matthews, 95, passed away on September 16, 2016 surrounded by her family and close friends at Hospice Savannah after a long illness.

Audrey was born in Savannah, Georgia and was the daughter of Allison Madison Cason and Sarah Jane Slater Cason. Audrey was raised in Bryan County close to Morgan's Bridge.  She was the valedictorian of her class at Ways Station High School in Richmond Hill, Georgia.  Mr. Henry Ford awarded Audrey an all expense paid trip to Dearborn, Michigan where Mr. And Mrs. Ford entertained Audrey.  Audrey spent many nights waltzing with Henry Ford and George Washington Carver.

Audrey began college in the fall at Georgia Teacher's College, later to be known as Georgia Southern.  While at college, Audrey was introduced to James Blaine Marston, Jr., whom she later married.  Audrey was a charter member of Whitefield United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the George Whitefield Sunday School Class and an active member of the Audrey Marston Circle. Audrey was a member of the Savannah Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution having recently been honored with a 50 year membership pin.  Audrey was a member of the Huntingdon Club of Savannah and Chapter AT P.E.O.

Audrey's first husband Blaine passed away in October, 1975.  She later married Walter Wesson Matthews and they enjoyed many years of dancing and traveling together.

Audrey is survived by her husband, Walter Wesson Matthews, a son James Blaine Marston, III of Tybee Island, GA, daughter Sally Anne Westerfield, and daughter Rose Mary Lee (David) both of Savannah, Georgia. Three granddaughters, Jennifer Ashley Welch of Atlanta, GA, Lillian Blaine Goodwin (Jacob) of Savannah, GA and Sarah Allison Hasley (Eric) of Buford, GA. Two Stepdaughters, Jeanie Knight (Carlton) of Savannah, GA and Stelly Driggers of Rincon, GA. Three great grandson's Albert Frederick Weis, IV and Samuel Charles Weis and Townes Blaine Goodwin all of Savannah, GA. Two great granddaughters Sienna Isabel Hasley of Buford, GA and Charlotte Ware Goodwin of Savannah, GA. Step grandchildren Trey, Matt, and Wesley Knight, Jody, Marcus, Kelly and Wendy Driggers.

Visitation will be at Fox & Weeks Hodgson Memorial Chapel, Sunday, September 18, 2016, from 3-5.

Funeral service will be held Monday, September 19, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Whitefield United Methodist Church, 728 East 55th Street, Savannah, GA.  Interment at 2:00 p.m. at Ellabell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
